YES! YES! YES! PHANTASM RAVAGER and the PHANTASM: REMASTERED will be mine in October!
Well Go USA Entertainment announced its acquisition of North American rights for Don Coscarelli’s legendary Phantasm series, including an all-new 4K restoration of the original 1979 cult classic Phantasm: Remastered, never-before-seen HD restorations of 1994’s Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead and 1998’s Phantasm IV: Oblivion, and the long-anticipated debut of the fifth and final film in the series, 2016’s Phantasm: Ravager. On October 7th, for the first time ever, the Phantasm series will be available in remastered, high-definition versions across all cable and digital platforms. Chuck Tingle is the hero the Hugo awards need!
For the second year in a row, a bunch of disgruntled "conservative" sf readers and writers are attempting to destroy science fiction's Hugo Awards by nominating slates of works that are, variously: rabid racist tracts; works by their ideological opponents; tepid military sf; works by bystanders; and weird porn by Chuck Tingle, a master of the form, who has nothing to do with any of this...

J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot are restoring PHANTASM! That's awesome!
Phantasm is a special movie. It rests at the axis of cheesy and sublime. It is one of the few films to actually work as dream logic and yet remain compelling. It also gave us one of the great horror heroes in the form of Reggie Bannister. It’s available on DVD, as are its sequels, but a Blu-ray release has never been announced.
But now, Ain’t It Cool News reports the film is getting a 4K restoration thanks to J.J. Abrams‘s production company Bad Robot. Abrams cited the film as his inspiration for naming Gwendoline Christie‘s Star Wars character Phasma; the armor she wears reminded him of the strange spheres used in Phantasm...

This scene from this episode of KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER rocked 6 year old Al Bruno III's world!
When I was just a lad, long before I discovered DOCTOR WHO, this show, this one season wonder made me into the horror geek I am today.

And this episode The Spanish Moss Murders stuck in my head for years after KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER had been canceled in favor of more boring shows.
And here is the electrifying ending...

HOLY COW!!! The RPG.net Rants/Binder of Shame stories are 10 years old!
Ten years!
The first of the 'Rants' THE TEAM THAT COULDN'T SHOOT STRAIGHT was first posted on 3/21/2002!
I wrote it because I was at work, I was bored and a little depressed over my ever growing pile of rejection slips.
I remember posting it and then thinking to myself "I'll never do something like this again."
But I did do it again... twenty four times by the time I realized it was time to stop.
Ten years and folks are still reading and laughing over these stories these strange and somewhat true stories. I honestly can't wrap my head around it sometimes. You guys have kept these tales alive, repeating them, reposting them, linking to them, TV troping them, turning them into radio plays and gosh knows what else.
For a long time I felt like a failed writer but you guys and gals - whoever and wherever you are - helped me get through that. Maybe I won't be the next Clive Barker, Stephen King or Snooki but I told my stories and you heard.
I will always be grateful.
And for those of you that don't know what the Hell I am talking about here they are...
